Super interesting Pam. I guess it would be okay if we can do the state but
the big thing is if we can use whatever we index. I can see why they don't
want to just allow USGW volunteers as that would be so hard for us to man
but if we participate, we should be able to share our efforts.
Pam I was also going to ask you and Cleve, when was the last time you had
seen or heard from Rose Wyman? I know you three were at a MTGS meeting in
I think either 2007 or 2009 but we cannot contact her and haven't been able
to for some time.
Sorry for going off topic but if I didn't ask when I thought to ask, I
would forget. LOL

Not sure, but what I have heard about this project is that it only
goes
down to the state level due to some technical issues. In other words, we
can index Montana records, but can't choose which part of Montana.
By the way, Ancestery is doing it's own index of the 1940 census, and
is not participating in the joint 1940 census indexing which Family
Search,
Archives.com and
findmypast.com are coordinating. I believe
some of the national genealogy societies, like NGS? are also on board
with this project.
Just what I've read.
