I stand corrected on the requirement of a state logo. The USGenWeb Bylaws state:
IX. GUIDELINES/STANDARDS FOR WEBSITES/MEMBERS
A. All websites shall include prominent display of The USGenWeb Project logo on the home
page. A state project logo may be required depending on the guidelines/standards in effect
for that state.
IX. A was amended as follows by a vote of the membership in July 2010:
A. All websites shall include prominent display of The USGenWeb Project logo on the home
page. If linked, this logo may only be linked to the USGenWeb National site. A state
project logo may be required depending on the guidelines/standards in effect for that
state. If linked, a state project logo may only be linked to the appropriate state site.
Therefore, I withdraw the portion of my previous message that states that all sites must
display the MTGenWeb logo. However, if a logo is used on a county website, it must be the
official logo that was voted on by the membership.
My personal opinion is that the state logo provides identity and continuity for all sites
within the project and should be required. In accordance with that belief, my county
site(s) will display the MTGenWeb logo.
