Good morning, everyone. I certainly hope everyone is okay after the latest round of
tornadoes last weekend.
It has been a couple of weeks since the official MTGenWeb logo was selected and the logo
should be on the main page of all MT county and special projects websites by now. The logo
page:
http://www.mtgenweb.com/logo.htm has been updated with the official logo and the logo
page on the mtgenweb.org server will be updated soon. The official logo may be
appropriately re-sized and the border color may be changed to compliment your county
website background. The other logos on the page may be used on the inside pages of your
websites if you choose to
use them.
The correct format for the MTGenWeb must be used on all sites as well. As discussed
before, the prescribed format is the 2 letter postal abbreviation for the state combined
with GenWeb. "XXGenWeb" translates to MTGenWeb. The logos and banners that do
not have correct formatting of the project name, must be removed from all county websites.
The term "GenWeb" may not be used alone on any MT website.
All references to the USGenWeb Project on MTGenWeb county websites must comply with the
format (USGenWeb) specified
atwww.usgenweb.org/Volunteers/bylaws.shmtl:
I. NAME
The name of this organization shall be "The USGenWeb Project." The name,
"The USGenWeb Project," and "The XXGenWeb Project" (where XX is the
two-letter postal code abbreviation for each state) are service marks and reserved
exclusively for The USGenWeb Project and any websites representing The USGenWeb Project.
The MTGenWeb Policies page
http://www.mtgenweb.com/~policies.html has been updated to
reflect the site project logo requirement and should be referred to when in doubt about
what is required. All websites must display the official logo as well as the
correct format of MTGenWeb and USGenWeb by May 3rd as we will start checking sites for
compliance soon afterward.
Thank you for all you do!
