I agree with one county one vote. If a person is willing to take one more than one county,
they should get a vote for each county they host. Don't get too hung up in details. We
can decide on what looks like would work best for the next couple of years and then
readdress the topic and make adjustments. There are probably less than a dozen counties
that would need an assistant volunteer. I'm working with local historical societies
and it seems to be working pretty well. They provide local sources for me to refer people
to - I no longer live in Montana - and I'm providing web them space on my county
GenWeb sites.
FYI - Sweet Grass County has a population of about 3,600 total. The county is larger than
the state of Rhode Island, but smaller than the state of Delaware (I figured this out when
I took on the county <g>). The county seat of Big Timber has a population of about
1,600. The other three communities in the county each have populations of less than 100.
It took me awhile to get used to working with townships in states further east because
townships don't mean much in most of Montana. I know there are lots of counties in
Montana with populations less the Sweet Grass and a number that have more land area.
