I found these lists at the National Archives website, I am sending

case someone may be interested in adding to their county webpages and /or
the MtGenWeb state page. These are shown as new listings at
http://www.archives.gov/research/ww2/ and provides access to causualties of
WWII in all 50 states.
The casualty list is broken down into 2 parts, Army and Army Air Forces on
one page, the other is Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. The first 2 URL's are
for all 50 states, the last 2 are direct links to Montana's WWII Casualties.

Now my question about the county page guidelines. Weren't the query boards
at Rootsweb designed for queries at the county level instead of having to
continually update a page on the county sites? If so, maybe a reference to
these boards would be helpful.
