verified and contacted they will be posted to the MT State list. For more
information regarding nominations and qualifications for the office of state
coordinator, please see the F.A.Q.'s at the end of this e-mail.
Candidates will be announced on the MT mailing list the morning of
Sunday, December 2, 2007 and campaigning will go until Friday December 7,
2007.
Voting will begin Saturday December 8, 2007 and end on Wed December 12, 2007
at 5:00 PM, CST.

Duties and Qualifications
The USGenWeb Bylaws state:
"Section 4. State Coordinators shall remain subscribed to the State
Coordinators mailing list and maintain a current mailing list of all local-level
coordinators. State Coordinators shall provide their name,
postal address, and phone number to the National Coordinator to be held in
strictest confidence and only used in the case of an emergency.
Section 5. State projects are empowered to develop/adopt any additional
rules/bylaws and guidelines, as appropriate, for their state so long as they do
not conflict with these bylaws. State projects shall be highly encouraged to
develop and adopt rules/bylaws that cover grievance procedures within the
state
Section 6. It shall be the responsibility of each state project to
periodically review local-level project websites to ensure compliance with The
USGenWeb Project/XXGenWeb Project established guidelines/standards."
Linda Haas Davenport, past National Coordinator of the USGenWeb Project
wrote the following to the list which will provide more details on the general
duties of a State Coordinator:
"In general the person who serves as SC needs to have the time to handle the
responsibilities of the state; is responsible for maintaining the state web
page; is usually the list manager for the state's CC list; is
responsible for being sure that all CCs are subbed to the state's CC list;
updates the state's membership list every quarter and sends to the EC; finds
volunteers for any counties up for adoption; either finds a
"county setter" or maintains the county up for adoption until it is adopted
out; answers questions for new CCs; helps with web page problems; is
responsible for answering e-mails received from researchers/visitors; is subbed to the
National level SC list and is responsible for keeping the state's CCs
notified of issue at the National level; and last but by no means least, is
available to the state's CCs to answer questions and
help out as needed.
