Oh yeah? Well, I'm more confused than you are! Nyah Nyah! <LOL>
I got my info from Names on the Face of Montana. Under Big Horn County it
says, "The county was organized from parts of Rosebud and Yellowstone
counties in 1913" Under Custer, it "clearly" states, "It was
created
in 1877 from a part of old Big Horn Co.; parts of it were taken in 1901 to
form Rosebud County and in 1913 to form Fallon Co; a part of Custer Co.
was taken to form a part of Prairie Co. in 1915; also, Powder River Co. in
1919 and Carter in 1917 were created from parts of Custer County." All I
have to say is "Huh?" <G>
I know there's a possibility the info there is incorrect... and that I need
to change the table in some way. What do you suggest, Joan, that would
make it clearer to people?
Thanks for letting me know that it seems confusing.

I'm snowed in here in South Dakota. Awhile back I had a query

property ownership in what county. As I was checking Corky's county table
I got a little confused. I checked again this morning and I'm still a
little confused (not that this is anything new). The counties in question
are Big Horn, Custer and Rosebud. In the table, Corky, I read Big Horn as
being formed in 1913 from Rosebud and Yellowstone counties. Custer was
formed in 1877 from Big Horn and Rosebud was formed in 1901 from Custer.
Rosebud county makes sense (I was just trying to confuse you - cabin
fever). But I don't understand Big Horn and Custer. And congratulations on
getting all the counties adopted. A major achievement. I will change my
page. I assume you're still looking for volunteers for other projects.
