Hi everyone,
This did NOT come through the official State Coord. list, so I can't vouch
for any details or for the project to which it refers. I am just
forwarding it FYI in case any of you are interested enough to check it out
on your own.

Greetings USGENWEB Advisory State Coordinators & Assistants!
I m sure you ve heard of AniMap Plus, the historical Atlas written by
Adrian Ettlinger and distributed by The Gold Bug. If not, AniMap Plus is
software available on CD that has over 2,300 maps in color to show the
changing county boundaries for each of the 48 adjacent United States for
every year since colonial times. Maps of the full U.S. are also included
showing the changes in state and territorial boundaries from 1776 to the
present.
Mr. Ettlinger and his associate Walter Joyce are currently working on the
DENRAH project, a new Digital ENcyclopedia of RAilroad History. When
completed DENRAH will do for Railroads what AniMap Plus has done for
boundary changes in the U.S. For a detailed description on the DENRAH
project please see
http://www.rrhistorical.com/rrdata/denrah.html
We would like to develop a national network of research sources to fill in
certain gaps of railroad history and chronology, such as: What is the exact
date railroad service first arrived at a given railroad station or when a
given railroad route was first opened for business. This information is
often known by local historians, or found in the local newspapers but is
often missing or inaccurate in sources available in research libraries used
by railroad historians. It is hoped that we can find a representative for
each state and county in the U.S.
I am coordinating correspondence on this project as the database for each
county in the U.S is created. If you are interested in helping us with this
not-for-profit project please contact me as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Holly T. Hansen
