Hi friends, (I *hope* we're still friends! <G>)
This is just more *fun* stuff re: the ongoing rift. I enjoyed the
responses, so thought I'd just pass this along to anyone who wants to
bother reading it.
Don't you wish you were on all of the other USGenWeb lists so you could be
innudated with this stuff every single day???
Just think, in two more days you won't have to get anymore of this junk
from me!

Nancy, your posting regarding a TNGenWeb Project links/e-mail question
to State-Coord-L is inappropriate.
Since I am not running for any office, I must assume that your posting
is financially motivated (not political).
Considering that
RootsWeb.com/GenConnect just sold out to
Ancestry.com/MyFamily.com, it is time for all State Coordinators, ASCs,
National Coordinator, Archives Coordinators and File Managers, Advisory
Board members, Election Committee members, and all candidates to provide
a full disclosure of their financial involvement in any of the above
mentioned companies, and post those disclosures to every appropriate
USGenWeb Project mailing list.
My Statement:
I Fred Smoot do hereby declare that I do not now nor ever have had any
financial interest in
RootsWeb.com/GenConnect,
Ancestry.com/MyFamily.com
or any other commercial genealogical organization.

Mr. Smoot:
Since I am not on the State-Coord-L list I (and probably most people on
this list) have no idea what Nancy or anyone else posted there.... NOR, may
I hasten to add, do I wish to read 5,000 messages here about it.
Let it suffice to say that, personally, I don't think it's any of your or
anyone else in this project's business how I make my living, what
investments I may or may not have nor any other single bit of financial
information concerning me ... or ANYONE else in the project.I am not now,
never have been, nor, if my luck holds out, EVER plan to be a candidate for
anything in this project. Even with that in mind, I certainly have no
intention of asking anyone who is to subject themselves to the same rabid
wolf mentality that candidates in "real" elections suffer from the national
press.
The next thing we know, all candidates for any position in USGenWeb from
janitor up will be asked if they have ever had extra-marital affairs or
lusted in their hearts for someone other than their spouses.
This is a VOLUNTEER project SUPPOSEDLY for the benefit of the average
person attempting to research their family roots. Now, if anyone doesn't
like the way I VOLUNTEER MY TIME, I suggest that THEY have a problem. The
same goes for the way anyone else in this project volunteers their time.
I don't care who owns or works for Rootweb, GenConnect, Ford Motors or IBM.
If they are willing to VOLUNTEER their time to this project, I say more
power to them and "Welcome!"
THERE WILL BE NO DISCUSSION ON THIS LIST REGARDING ANYONE'S FINANCIAL (OR
SEXUAL!!!!) CONNECTIONS TO ANYTHING.

Subject: [STATE-COORD-L] Volunteers Thanks!
Dear Volunteers:
To all the genealogical hobbyist with no PC or Mac background, Thank-you for
being part of this project.
To all the volunteers who are also volunteers and/or employees and/or
supports of other projects or business like RW, RQ, AOL, Geocities, Thank
you for being apart of this effort.
A few years ago one of the Maine CCs did not permit a link for her/his
county page because the host was in the business of doing genealogy. I
requested that the town host remove the link from the town page to the
her/his genealogy business page and after a year I was able to get the CC to
understand that it was not a conflict of interest for a genealogist to be
running a town genealogical page.To all the local authors and historians
that want to volunteer their time, we need to welcome them to our project.
If any of you get any income at all from genealogy and want to became part
of this volunteer project and look at that as a plus. Thank you for your
effort.I am a Maine Author. I write and have published town histories and
genealogical reference books. I get some income from my effort but the cash
flow is on the negative side. We have other people in this project that also
are both volunteers as well as employees of libraries, historical
societies, government etc......... I am sure that that also get some income
form do genealogy stuff.
We need the effort of every willing person.
Thank-you all.
