Rootsweb seems to be doing its part in spreading this worm. I thought
attachments weren't allowed on lists. If they are allowed WHY and why
isn't rootsweb virus scanning them?
It's not coming through the messages from the lists. However if anyone
that has the virus receives a posting from you through a list, or you're in
their address book, it automatically sends out the email with the virus
attached. Rootsweb is configured to filter out all attachments. I
received both RE: and RE: BLM which was one of our most recent topics. I
have yet to receive a list message that has the attachments. Norton has
not detected a single one. So Rootsweb is doing their part in halting the
spread. Now if everyone would please install antivirus software on their
computer and keep them updated.....my Christmas wish!
My concern now is all the messages that are coming through with two viruses
attached. W32.Badtrans.B@mm and W32.Badtrans(a)mm.enc virus. Norton is able
to quarantine the one, but unable to quarantine or delete the other. It
however deletes the email containing the virus before it hits my computer.
Exciting days ahead!
