Hi everyone,
We just wanted everyone to know the goings on at Kemper County. Marsha and I
have added MANY things to the site and we are very excited about it!
Family Histories from the "Kemper County Mississippi - A Pictorial History".
This is a 200+ page book compiled by the Kemper County Historical
Association who graciously gave us permission to place it online. You can
find these in the "First Families" section and the "Communities, Towns
&
Schools" section and pictures and a few histories in the "Churches &
Cemeteries" and "History" sections.
Also, thanks to Lynette Long at the DeKalb Library and the smooth talking
Marsha my cohort...ooppps, I mean co-coordinator we now have online the
1837, 1839, 1846 tax lists and also the 1848, 1854 Land Roll and the 1850
Agriculture Schedule. Those can be found in the "Deeds" section.
In the "Births, Marriage & Misc Records" section, we have Index to Kemper
County Court Records 1880-1933, Enumeration of Educable Children 1890
(Partial-more to come), Roll of Company A, 35th MS. Regiment, Roll of
Company E., 26th MS. Regiment, Confederate Soldiers - Limbrick/Limerick
Surname, and the Confederate Diary of the MS 26th Regiment.
Whew! All this in about 2 months time! We invite you to come and take a look
and see if you have any connections within these records. If it's to much to
sift through, you can always use the Kemper County search engine.
