What a coincidence!
Before I took over Calhoun, someone had sent in a list of cemetery names.
After having someone request directions, I decided to incude directions to
the cemeteries that I could find.
This morning I woke up dreaming that I was standing in a location where I
could see five cemeteries. Some only had a few markers and one was in a
field where obviously a farmer had stacked some stones on top of each other
to be able to plow up close. One had three markers included in a annex to a
building but had a photo of several people that were buried there. (Maybe I
need a dream psycharist). Could this be because I only have about five on
my "hunt down" list.
Anyway, my cemetery page went from a four-page list to about a 16-page list.
Today, a woman from Little Rock was planning to be in Calhoun to do a
"cemetery tour" of where family members were buried.
The site of the Calhoun Cemetery directions is:

Since I took over at Thanksgiving, I have had 1925 visitors to the Calhoun
pages. I think that's remarkable for the little rural county that we are.

Hi, Folks -
There have been several additions to What's New, if you'd like to mosey on
over:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~msgenweb/whatsnew.htm
One item, that I hope everyone reads, concerns the new MSGW feature page:
----
New MSGenWeb Feature - News Of Mississippi Cemeteries - Information about
clean-up projects, vandalism, transcriptions in progress, special
ceremonies, and restoration. Submissions
welcomed! It is very sad that the first entry concerns recent serious
vandalism at the Natchez City Cemetery, in Adams County. Read about it -
can you help? 03/13/02
----
I know we're all just sick about things like what happened in Natchez. I
am especially sad in this case, because one of the markers belonged to
someone in my line, a young girl who died in 1917.
I've learned that researchers really do visit and enjoy the MSGW special
pages, and I think this one will be popular and very helpful. But as
always, we're dependant on submissions. So if you run across some
information about a local cemetery that you would like to pass on, or if
you would like to put a blurb on the county lists about the new page, that
would be great! Any news about Mississippi cemeteries, public or private,
is fair game. :-)
Thanks!
Ellen
