........and more FYI stuff.......
By the way, if anyone is confused about this ByLaws Revision Committee,
this committee can only recommend changes. It cannot make any actual
changes, nor can the USGW Advisory Board make any changes. I recall when I
was on the original ByLaws committee, all or at least most of us were very
concerned that a handful of people would try to make serious changes
affecting the entire project. So we set a rather high threshold.
Per USGW ByLaws:
"ARTICLE XVI. AMENDMENT TO BYLAWS
Section 1. These Bylaws may be amended by the membership of The USGenWeb
Project through a two-thirds (2/3) majority of those members participating
during the voting period."
There are succeeding sections which offer more details. If you're

I abhor mentioning anything even remotely political, on this list, but I
have a responsibility to pass things of this nature on to you, so you can
make your own decision to participate on the national level, or not to
participate. If you have questions, please write to me privately. I'd
like to keep this list, and our state, refreshingly non-political. <g>
Thanks!

Subject: [STATE-COORD-L] BYLAWS REVISION COMMITTEE
To: STATE-COORD-L(a)rootsweb.com
Hopefully this will help the CCs who do not follow Board-L, or other lists.
Please forward.
Holly Timm, National Coordinator, has established a committee to study the
current USGenWeb Project Bylaws to determine if revision is necessary. That
committee is just beginning its work.
It is good sense for an organization to form a committee from time to time,
to study the bylaws and make revision if necessary to help the organization
work better and/or claify/strengthen statements contained in the bylaws.
That is the task that has been assigned to us.
We need the input of the CCs who wish to make suggestions to the committee.
The Project's foundation is the CCs and all voices must be given the
opportunity to be heard.
Therefore, a website has been set up so that our work can be followed and
where you will find email links to send suggestions to the committee
members. When we are finished, our work will be submitted to the National
Coordinator (as the appointing authority), who will submit it to the
Advisory Board and ultimately to the general membership for
approval/disapproval.
