That's what is was - RW Freepages was down, but just checked and it's
running again now, and the animated ad they force on you is now running.

Ok, here's what the problem is - this source code
+++++
<script language="JavaScript1.2" fptype="dynamicanimation"
src="animate.js">
</script>
</head>
<body onload="dynAnimation()">
<center><a
href="http://banner.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/newgo.cgi?pos=01009744064&q...
src="http://banner.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/newbanner.cgi?pos=0100974406...
reepages" border=0 alt="Ad"></a></center><br>
+++
is calling for animate.js in the first line. Since the Rootsweb banner link
is broken, either the server is down, or the script is buggy. I received
another letter this AM with questions about WorldConnect being down, so RW
might be having problems, or down for maintenance.
What I don't understand, is why you would try to access that file in a URL.
It's not on a <a href link anywhere that I see in your source code.

Subject: [MSGEN] Catching Up
Hi, Folks -
Like most everyone else, I've been slightly out of pocket over the holidays.
I'll try to bring us up to speed.
For those of you who don't regularily check our "What's New" page
http://www.rootsweb.com/~msgenweb/whatsnew.htm
there are a couple of items you'll want to know about.
1. "A new URL and look for Keely's Korner:
http://www2.netdoor.com/~isumpin/
Don't forget to
change your bookmarks. 12/19/01"
Keely's Korner has always been popular with researchers, and I'm delighted
to
note that our good buddy Linda Mason is helping Keely out now. (Just when
we
thought we had seen the last of her! LOL!)
2. "Double Your Research Fun - Please welcome Charles Sullivan and his
new
MSGenWeb County page, Jones County Mississippi Genealogy and Historical
Research.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~msjones/
This is a brand new site - watch it grow! So, if you're researching in
Jones
County, don't forget to check both county sites: The original Jones
County,
MSGenWeb maintained by Ken Hollingsworth, a MSGenWeb founder, and the new
county site maintained by Charles. 12/19/01"
Charles is subbed to both lists, so please hop on over to MSCHAT and give
him a
heartly MS welcome.
Then maybe someone can help us out. <g> Charles is having the same problem
one of our CCs had earlier - the page
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~msjones/animate.js won't open in NS
because of a coding error. NS keeps looking for an animate.js file, which
of
course isn't there. We can't seem to find the error. Can someone help????
Thanks!
After the first of the year, when things settle down, Charles will begin
uploading new material to the site. So it you're researching in that area,
keep an eye on both county pages.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Please have a fun and safe New
Year!
Thanks,
Ellen
