** High Priority **
All,
Here are the details
ATTN:
There is a new WORM VIRUS you should be aware of "MyParty" virus.
Anti virus experts posted a medium-risk warning for the "MyParty" virus,
the first malicious code threat to use the .com extension. The virus is
spread via an e-mail with the subject line "new photos from my party" and
body text that includes a false link to the URL
www.myparty.yahoo.com.
When users click the link, a copy of the MyParty virus is placed on their
hard
drive, the file is executed, and then the user's own e-mail system
sends out additional copies of the virus to everyone listed in their address
book.
If you receive a "Myparty" e-mail, DO NOT OPEN E-MAIL, DELETE IT FROM
YOUR MAILBOX, and DELETE IT FROM YOUR TRASH.
If you open e-mail, BUT DID NOT OPEN THE LINK
www.myparty.yahoo.com.
DELETE E-MAIL FROM YOUR MAILBOX, and DELETE IT FROM YOUR TRASH. This
should resolve
the problem. The virus is executed by accessing the link. RUN
NORTON ANTI VIRUS, if in doubt.
If e-mail is opened and the link is accessed, DELETE THE E-MAIL FROM YOUR
MAILBOX
and TRASH. Then RUN NORTON ANTI VIRUS. Norton should successfully
clean virus.
Call the Help Desk at x82149 with any questions. Thank you.
