Hi all,
I am very sorry to hear about Shirley, she helped us out when no one
else would step forward and we owe her a debt of gratitude for that. I
know we all wish her a speedy recovery and will keep her in our prayers.
I have spoken with Shari Handley, SE/MA SC Rep, from the USGenWeb
Advisory Board and it is her advice and desire that we handle this
within the state. I have also spoken via email with Nate, Ellen, Michael
and have referred to Linda for advice on how to handle this election. To
give us time to regroup and get out the information to the CC's who are
not subbed to this list the nomination period will continue until
Sunday, June 3rd. At that time Ballots will be sent out, or if you all
want we can use Vote Bot, which is an electronic voting process that
MSGEN uses. If we do a manual count, and it doesn't matter to me one
way or the other, Rose Diamond, from Calhoun County has agreed to be the
verifier. I'll be a little more clear on this process when we get
closer to voting time. The voting process should last 1 to 2 weeks with
the State Coordinator taking office effective July 1st, this will allow
people on vacation or off for whatever reason ample time to vote and
allow transition time for the person taking office.
Currently, Michael Lampkin has changed the MSGEN web page email
addresses to go to him so that no mail will bounce and he can handle
questions coming in. I don't see a problem with Nate fulfilling the
duties of State Coordinator in the interim, I have heard nothing but
good things about him and believe he will keep our best interest in mind
when making decisions for us.
I do, however, have a problem with folks bashing or criticizing each
other on this list. If you feel the need to bash, or make fun of, or
HAVE FUN, take it to MSCHAT. This list was created as a mandatory list
for all cc's, to talk to each other civilly with one thing as the topic,
our service to the genealogist that research in this state. My desire
is for us all to enjoy volunteering for the counties and state we
represent. Let's do it!
Thanks,
Melissa McCoy-Bell
