Debbie,
So sorry to hear that you have made the decision to resign from
the MSGW project. From the time that I was able to go online and research;
I have found Pontotoc Co. one of the best counties to search for information.
Have always thought that you had put a LOT of hard work and
thought into maintaining the county. As most of us know, volunteer work is
one of the hardest jobs that one hold.
Best of luck to you in your future. I personally will miss you and
all the work you have done on Pontotoc Co.

I have sent an e-mail this morning letting Nathan know that I am
resigning
as the CC for Pontotoc County. Before I am unsubbed from this list I felt
that it was necessary for me to let everyone know why I made this decision.
One my life has been so busy lately that I have not had the time to devote
to the site that I would have like. That in itself was really reason enough
because I knew that I would be able to get things caught up. This is the
real reason. I stumbled across USGENWEB a few years ago while looking for
information on my own family. I couldn't get enough. I sat at this computer
hour after hour looking reading searching. I thought this was the greatest
thing. Then one day I noticed that the Pontotoc County site was up for
adoption. Since my family was from and still is from Pontotoc and Lafayette
counties I sent and e-mail and ask what would I have to do? I was told and
that was it. I was hooked. I had a lot of fun doing it and as I'm sure all
of you know there is nothing better than getting that e-mail from someone
who because of the work you have done has just added another piece to their
puzzle or have finally found that last missing link. So because of those
things making the decision to leave is not easy, however in light of all
the things that has gone on over the weekend I no longer want to be a part
of this. There are a couple of things that I would like to address here.
Someone said that they are here and just kinda lurk and was chastised for
it. I too was did what I need and what I could do for my site and for the
most the part kept my mouth shut. The reason people lurk and don't jump
into the middle of things it because of things like this weekend. Something
else was said about people not coming to Thursday night chat. When I first
came on board I was invited to come to the chat. I was told that it was a
lot of fun and that if you need any help that was the place to be. Well I
needed some help and as much as I hate irc chat I thought why not. I go see
if anyone can help me and maybe get to know some knew people. I entered the
chat session said hello and only 3 people in that room even bother to say
hello back. I sat and read what was being said and finally ask my question
not one person even bothered to acknowledge the fact that I has ask a
question. I waited for about 15 minutes to see if I would ever get a reply.
I left that room and never went back. See what I saw in that room was a
tight nit group of people that didn't want and outsider there. So maybe
that is the reason people on this list don't come to chats.
If there is one last thing that I would like to say, find a way to get
along. If you don't like things the way they are then try and find a way to
make them better. Everyone is entitled to their own ideas and beliefs.
Until you have walked in someone shoes don't be so quick to judge. As far
as I am concerned my life is to short and I can find much better things to
do with time then listen to a bunch of adults act like kids.
