I know Ellen Pack a little better, as do most of you, and I have no
doubt
she too would be a great state coordinator. Didn't she hold the
job
before?
Yes, for about a year and a half, between Rich and Linda. I reluctantly
had to
resign because of lack of time, due mostly to baby-sitting.
However, I'm just playing grandma now, and loving it. :-) I'm also not
involved with so many counties, or any other states. I have cleared my
plate,
and I believe I can devote the necessary time to take care of "business."
I
have some independent sites, but they are not demanding.
If Ellen ever informed her constituents of the reasons
for her sudden departure I am unaware of it.
Interestingly, only one other person ever asked. :-) I think those
close to
me already knew the answer, and probably were not surprised.
I left without giving a reason, because I deplore airing personal gripes,
and
sending unpleasant notes accross a public forum. My mama always said,
if you
can't say something nice, don't say anything. <g> I don't always
follow her
advice, but I sure try.
Suffice to say there were two basic reasons for my resignation: 1) The
Board
was consuming too much time and energy, at a time when I had personal
considerations, and 2) I was having some real conscience problems....for
lack
of a better term. One of the Board members kindly remarked that he/she
was
"disappointed" that I left. When the remark was made, I realized that
if I
had stayed, I would have been disappointed in myself. If I do not remain
true
to myself, to whom *can* I remain true.
Frankly, the only reason I stayed as long as I did was out of a sense of
responsibility to the CCs who were kind enough to place me in office, and
I had
hoped to remain at least until this summer. Over time, however, it
became
intolerable. I apologize, knowing that I might have let some people
down. It
is very sad that the Board has a long history of resignations.
Having said that, I do not regret the long months I spent on the board,
for a
number of reasons. It's easy to lose faith in the project, from the
national
level, but when back dealing with the CCs, faith is quickly restored. My
feeling has been re-confirmed that this project gains its strength from
the
CCs. This is "where it's at." I care about MSGW, it's where I feel
comfortable, and now that I've rested up a bit <g>, it's where I'd like
to be.
I would like very much to have the support of as many CCs as possible, in
this
election, but I realize we all have to make our own decisions. The most
important thing is that it is your choice, and the choice is made in a
fair and
properly conducted election, in accordance with USGW By-Laws.
Thanks,
Ellen
