I'm taking a wild guess and guessing that the information found
on the Federal land patent applications might be the answer.
They give descriptions about so many degrees and it corresponds
with how a county was laid out, so many degrees west, north etc.
where all that Township Range information came from. Strictly a
guess so early in the a.m. Most of Calhoun is in one of those
Indian named Sessions and a part of a second :)
