Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Since Melissa claims I have to be nominated to retain my current
position, I nominate myself as a good candidate for SC of MSGenWeb.

Thank you Melissa for your opinon. I'm sorry that you view my desire to
serve MSGenWeb as a travesty.
BTW, the tagline was not supposed to be sent to the list. I was working
out some frustrations by changing my signature and somehow that didn't
get deleted. I am human <sigh>.

Hi all,
It is my desire that if Shirley Scott now wants to stay we hold an
election and she run just like anyone else, especially since the
nomination process has already begun. We need time, this is a holiday
weekend and most are out of town. She resigned and signed her note with
"I AM NO LONGER AFFILIATED . . .", that was the end of her tenure as
SC. In recanting, she is, effectively, appointing herself to the vacant
position. Once she resigned, and especially since the nomination
process has already begun and there are others willing to run, an
election has become necessary. We have two very nice capable people
willing to run. I think we are very fortunate and to miss this
opportunity would be a travesty.
Sincerely,
Melissa McCoy-Bell
Okay, I know I don't make it to the chats and I lurk on the list but now
I am going to say something.
I think we all need to reconsider what has been going on. If Shirley is
willing to stay on, with Nathan as her ASC, I personally think we need to go
with that. I, also, feel that unless those that are criticizing aren't
willing to step up and take the bat, they need to learn how to peaceably
find a solution. Life is to short for all these upsets and it in no way
serves the people who utilize MSGenWeb.
I personally would like to put in that Panola, Coahoma, & Quitman
Counties are in favor of Shirley reminding and Nathan helping. I also
understand that if her health is being jeopardized by her continued
involvement that she must take care of herself and will be missed.
Let us all take this day to prayerfully consider Shirley and her
situation and our own behaviors, so that we all might better serve.

Thank you Annette. All I wanted to do was do my best for MSGenWeb. I
really don't want to step down as SC. Nathan is my ASC, a position that
does not have to be elected. As long as I have help, there's no reason
to leave.
I do apologize for my behavior. I have an enlarged spleen which is
causing me to run a 102 degree fever and I feel horrible. The last thing
I needed was criticism and I did not react well.
I do apologize to all the CCs. It's only a couple that have been so
publically vocal about how bad I am. My box is full with many begging me
to stay on.
Nominations are still being accepted at this time until a "ruling" has
been made.

Annette,
Hi... no I don't. The counties that I'm interested in have always been
hosted when I've checked so I've been a "lurker" to the project. I lived in
Harrison county for 12 years. I worked in Hancock county for a while in Bay
Saint Louis. Survived a hurricane and a few tropical storms. My kids were
both born there.
Fell in love with Natchez - great place for you all to visit during the
Spring Pilgrimage. My wife and I absolutely loved it there. Some wonderful
antebellum homes there! Awesome experience.
We were fortunate to visit many areas of the state and grew to love the
places and people of the state. We have a great many friends throughout the
state. If you ask my kids where home is they'll say MS and they are teens
now....
I have a great fondness for the state and the great history that is there.
My desire to help others in their quest for their roots!
Nate

Ellen Pack as most of us here do. She was the SC when I first became a part
of MSGW. She was a fine one and only left the post for a lack of time. I
have chatted with Ellen and she now has the time again since she is no
longer baby-sitting her granddaughter. I would like to place her name in
nomination for the new SC.

Nathan will be helping me with MSGenWeb since there has not been an ASC
since John Smallwood quit. Being sick I needed someone I could count on
to handle some of the day to day complaints and gripes until a new SC is
elected into place.

Despite the propaganda presented by certain persons on this list,
MSGenWeb has an SC until just time as the election is finalized. Read
your bylaws if you have any questions. I can resign contingent upon the
election of a new SC. I believe that Linda did the same thing. I
believe that some people jumped to conclusions without finding out the
facts first.
Nominations for the position of SC will be accepted through Thursday, 30
May 2001, at Midnight Central time.
Send your nominations to me at msgenweb(a)juno.com or to the list
MSGen-L(a)rootsweb.com .
We will then hold a vote when all nominees have been presented and had a
time to "speak" to the list.

Why are the ASCs in control. I'm still in place until a new SC steps in
Melissa, unless you have voted to remove me. Nowhere in the bylaws does
it state that I can't remain in place until the new SC is elected. I
have resigned effective upon replacement by a new SC.

Shirley, per you post at 12;15 to MSGEN-L(a)rootsweb.com the obivious
conclusion was that your decided to leave immediately, this is how the ASCs
might arrive at that point?
You sent the following:

Thank you Nathan for your prompt response to our current need. However,
to follow correct procedure and keep in mind all of our best interests
we must follow the by-laws. I'm opening up the floor for nominations.
Anyone may send them to the list, self nominations are accepted. In the
mean time it's up to the ASC to take the reins, since we don't have one,
if it's okay with everyone I can monitor the election, since I'm not
running. I have included the by-law that covers this information. You
can visit the link below to view all the by-laws if your interested.
Nominations will be accepted until next Sunday, June 3rd, midnight. If
there is more than one, the election will be held after that time, I
will need at least one more person not running to help with the voting
if that be the case for verification of votes. I apologize for causing
this inconvenience but it's important to keep it fair.
Thanks,
