Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I got Lee County, no problem. My goodness though, that is a map!

Having trouble with this one, too. Keep missing 14 bytes, and the file
won't open. I'm beginning to wonder if my comptuer isn't having a bad hair
day.

I can't get these maps to load. I keep getting an Acrobat error -
operation or data too complicated to process.
Is the problem the maps, the reader, or me?

I thought this might help understanding the numbering you'll see on the maps:
Sections = 1 square mile
Township= 36 square miles
Create a square with six columns and six rows. Start numbering the boxes
starting in the upper right hand corner, from right to left. When you get
to the last box on
the top left corner, drop down to the next row and start numbering from
left to right....keep repeating until you finish all 36 squares.
The numbers in the very right hand boxes will be (starting with the top
row) 1, 12, 13, 24, 25, and 36.
These 36 squares will represent how a township is numbered.
The following page is also very helpful:

Sue, is there any information that Pat gives that will enable you to help
her specifically?
If you get anything in the Archives, please let us know. Be happy to link
directly to it. It would be a big help to researchers.
I hate to admit extreme dumbness <g>, but these land things always confused
me.

John Cain had sent me some scanned MS maps some time ago that were obtained
from the archives in Jackson. I had a lady that was going to try and get
me the rest of them for the remainder of the counties, but she never got
back to me. I had planned to extract the land data for each county and put
the database in the archives.
Counties that are misshapen, not a square or a rectangle are a bit
difficult to determine the BLM boundaries unless you have a very detailed
map. Unfortunately the CD does not sort them by county data, unlike the
BLM site. Unfortunately for most of us, the BLM site with not return the
number of hits we need to complete our county data.

John Cain had sent me some scanned MS maps some time ago that were obtained

Thought of something else. Our county map, that I got free from the
courthouse, lists county road 911 numbers and shows the township
divisions etc. since Calhoun is in two different land sessions our
county has a "crack" across it so we have odd numbers, depending on what
side of the county you are on.

I haven't explored fully the Bureau of Land Office Records, except some
in Calhoun. Don't know if they show the township maps or not. The
address is like
http://glorecords.com or a search can find the site if "Pat" wants to
see if the township divisions are shown.

Hi, Folks -
Bruce has been super to hold down the fort at Scott County for quite
awhile, but now finds he no longer has the time to maintain the county, or
to do it justice.
Any takers?
