Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Debbie,
I am very late responding to your message; but think your news is
great.
I will be moving to Calhoun Co, much to Rose's dismay :-), within
the next couple of months. Hope to be completely settled by the middle of Sept.
If at any time I can be of any help in your project, will be happy
to do so. Soon as I get a new email address in MS; will be posting it to
the list. In the meantime, I can still be reached through the above address.

Folks, I won't be able to be at the chat until 8PM. I hope that doesn't
mess anyone up. My opponent hadn't planned on attending, so perhaps this
time change won't be a big deal anyway.
Sorry for the delay, but last minute change of plans at home left me no
choice. When son brings the girlfriend home for dinner, I have to at least
make sure I don't burn the Ragu. LOL!
Thanks,
Ellen

My daughter told me about this web site and it tells a
lot about Emily West Morgan "the yellow rose" of the
original song "The Yellow Rose of Texas." It's very
fascinating reading. Enjoy.

The song "The Yellow Rose of Texas" was written about a woman who was "high
yellow".

I've come across something and would appreciate your
advice.
I copied the will of Ira E. Cornelius, and I was planning to transcribe it,
but there is a word used in it that I don't understand.
There are quite a few slaves mentioned by name in the will, mostly
identified as "negro" or "mulatto", but there are a couple of people
referred to as "yellow", as in "one yellow boy named George."
I have absolutely no idea what yellow means in that context. If it is a
racially derogatory term, then, obviously, I don't want to transcribe
it--I'll just put a line where it occurs. However, it may be a perfectly
normal term [for the time], and just one I haven't come across before.
Do you have any idea what this means? I'd appreciate your advice about how
to handle this.
Barbara & Rebecca,
Please send me your email !

Hi All,
This Friday night from 7pm-9pm CST, The Candidates for National Coordinator
has been invited to chat with MSGW. Joe Zsedney has accepted and I believe
Jim Powell is trying to learn mIRC so he can attend also. Tim has declined
due to being out of town on that date.
I invited Ellen Pack and David Morgan, MA/SE CC rep candidates, to a
similar chat on Saturday at the same time. Ellen accepted but David
declined saying in part "I will not be available Friday thru Monday of any
week. I am not sure about Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday." I haven't
heard back on if he would be willing to chat with MSGW at any time.
I guess we can humor Ellen <grin> and have a chat on Saturday from 7p to 9p
CST.

Hi Gang
I have found out that I have lost 2 of my GenConnect boards for
Alcorn County..so you better check yours to see who is taking care of them!!
I adopted them all when Belinda wrote me and ask if I wanted them.....I
can't remember how long ago it was ...but has been a good while back.
The Bible and Bios records were put up for adoption even tho they have been
maintained by me for all this time !!. Both of the has MsGen Alcorn as their
home pages ...because I put it there.
Does anyone Know what maybe going on here with the boards.......I have
written the New owner of the pages and her answer is below.( My email is
included )
Thanks
Bobbie
=======================================
Hi,
I do not remember and did not record the date I acquired the boards.
Rootsweb has a site where they list genconnect boards and mailing
lists available for adoption. I went there, found some MS boards and
mailing lists and adopted them.
It is a great feeling to know that I am being of help to those
researching my beloved Mississippi.
