R.L. SMITH RITES HELD ON OCTOBER 18th
Funeral services for Rufe Lee Smith, 50, of Route 3, Corinth, were held Sunday at 4:30
p.m., at Oak Hill Christian Church with the Rev. Paul Mattel officiating. Burial was in
the church cemetery.
Smith, district manager of Wester Gasoline for three years, died Saturday at 1:10 a.m. at
his home. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving first in the army
and then in the Air Force.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Hamasa Temple and Shriner-Corinth Chapter
#76, Barney Trice Council No. 48-R&SM (RAM).
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Nadine E. Smith of Corinth; two sons, Steve Lee Smith and
William Paul Smith, both of Corinth; two daughters, Miss Doria Mae Smith and Mrs. Clara
Lyn Smith, both of Corinth; two brothers, William H. Smith of Gary, Indiana, and James H.
Smith of Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Waldrop of Corinth.
Pallbearers were Masons.
McPeters Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
