Hello All
Ray I don't know if this helps or not but one of my lines has the name Brean
from Somerset and I have found references where the name is spelt Brian and
also Breen often even in the same household. Have you tried looking for
your John Brian with the alternate spellings?
Carole

Subject: BRAIN
Could some kind person please advise us where best to search for the
marriage of JOHN BRAIN to Sarah ?
We believe they would have been married around 1820 - 1826 and possibly in
Bitton, Bristol.
We have spent hours tonight searching on line the LDS IGI but cannot 'tie
anything in'
We have researched at the Bristol Record Office, but only had time to look
at microfiche, which didnt come up with anything.
We know John and Sarah's children, and we have found them and their
baptisms, marriages, etc. but have totally hit a brick wall with John and
Sarah.
We also found Sarah on the 1841 census along with her children and it stated
she was a widow. Where can we find any record of John's death and burrial?
We know he was a miner and we believe he frequented St.Mary's Church,
Bitton. All the children were baptised there and as they were all born and
bred in this area, and on the census it said Sarah was born in Oldland, we
assume this is where their marriage..........and possibly burrials took
place.
We cannot find where Sarah was burried either. We have searched on foot
most if not all of the cemeteries in the surrounding areas and have not
found any!!
Perhaps someone is also researching Brain? John and Sarahs children were:
Aaron, George, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.....Jacob being my g.g.grandfather.
Any help would be gladly received and hopefully we will be able to 'loosen'
this brick wall in 2004
With best wishes
ray and marlyn
