I just received the death certificate of my 2g-gm Mary Ann VAUGHAN (née
DAVIES). It would seem that she went to Govilon to spend her last days (I
believe she is buried in Govilon according to family records) which would
seem to imply that her family might have come from there. I cannot,
unfortunately, make out the complete details of her husband's (and,
presumably, her former) residence in Llangunider - I do know that they lived
in Beaufort Wells 8 months earlier when my g-gm, Elizabeth VAUGHAN was born.
I think local knowledge might help here so I have put part of the
certificate on the web at
http://members.home.net/hughwallis/Vaughan/MaryAnnVaughanDC.jpg in the hope
that someone can read the word between 'In Residence' and 'Llangunider'
in
section 7.
Also, if anyone can shed any light on the family of Mary Ann DAVIES,
possibly from Govilon, b. abt 1835, I would be grateful. If it helps, she
married John VAUGHAN in Llangattock Parish Church in November 1862 so an
1851 or 1861 census entry could be most helpful. Mary Ann clearly never made
it onto a census in the name of Mary Ann VAUGHAN since she died just a
couple of weeks before the 1871 census.
