Question 1:
I have located Beddoe relatives in Glamorgan and Monmouth. I need the help
of someone more familiar with the writing style of 1848 than I am. I have a
GRO marriage certificate for November 27, 1848, for Charles Beddoe and Mary
Harris. They are my maternal great-grandparents.
I cannot decipherer the handwriting in several key entries:
"Marriage solemnized at___"
"Residence at Time of Marriage ___ Row"
"Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of
the Established Church, by ___, by me, Thomas Davies ________ (Incumbent?)."
Some family members attended and are buried at Noddfa Chapel, Abersychan. I
cannot tell if this is the church location of the wedding.
Question 2:
The youngest child of Charles and Mary was my maternal grandmother,
Elizabeth Ann Beddoe. She was born September 25, 1870. I have looked for
sometime and I cannot locate a birth record, baptism record, or her name in
the 1871 and 1881 UK Census. I do possess a stitched sampler she made in
1882 while a student at Pontlottyn Board School. She left Wales in 1889 and
came to America.
Any suggestions?
