Can anyone help me please.
The Birth Certificate of my grandmother in 1870 (born in Blaenavon) gives
her father as JOHN STOCK(born in Stratton on the Fosse, Somerset about
1839), and her mother as EMMA(formerly OWLEY) (born about 1841 - place of
birth given as Yeovil in 1881 Census, and Gloucester in 1891).
There is a probable marriage in 1862 in St Peters Church in Blaenavon of
John Stock age 24 and Emma Holder age 21, his father JOHN PERKINS, engineer,
her father MATHEW HOLDER, blacksmith.
In 1851 John Stock is in Stratton on the Fosse, and in 1881 is with Emma in
Blaenavon. I have not managed to find Emma in 1851, and have no access to
the 1861 and 1871 censuses.
Can someone please look up 1861 in Blaenavon, or surrounding areas for John
Stock age about 23, hopefully with some other members of the family.
Also, can someone please find Emma Holder/Owley/Houldey (or similar!!) in
1861 and 1851.
There is a MATHEW HOULDEY in 1851 living in Lassington, near Gloucester, a
blacksmith. Is he Emma's father, and did he too move to the Blaenavon area.
Any information gratefully received.
