Hi Mike,
Once again, many thanks for all your help. I haven't seen your reply so I
presume it did indeed go astray.
If you could perhaps send it to me direct, that would be great. My email
address is:
myra.duffy(a)myraduffy.me.uk
I am just off for the week-end but I will look at your website at Yahoo as
soon as I get back on Monday. Lovely to have something interesting to
anticipate!
Thanks again for all your help, I am really grateful,
Myra

I sent you an email via the list address, but it went astray.
I found the marriage and burial of William Richard Johns.
I guess the email may have went astray, due to the fact
that it contained html text, this can be easily converted to
plain text, and rootsweb mailing lists have the capability
of doing so, it is a simple procedure, so maybe the list
owner has messages configured a certain way.
I run a Monmouthshire family history forum at Yahoo
and our messages can cope with either formats
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/monfh/ the group is
also linked to my website which contains thousands of
transcripts including parish records.
If you contact me direct, then maybe I will be able further
without any problems.
Mike

Hi Mike,
Many thanks for your very prompt reply and the offer of a 'look up' in
your
records.
I would be very grateful for any information you may be able to give.
The writing under the photo mentions:
'great uncles and aunts.... Ernest, Harry, Aubrey, Daisy and Anne (but not
any surnames so not sure whether they 'belong' to William Johns or his
wife's family.)
In correspondence with my mother's cousin (now deceased) she mentioned an
'Aunt Ruby'. I have not been able to find a Ruby Johns - but perhaps she
was
on the wife's side of the family -or even an 'honorary' aunt?
My mother's cousin also mentioned her mother's sister, Joyce.
Her mother was the eldest child of William and his wife - Persis Irene
Johns
born 1902 in Chepstow. So far I haven't found any sister Joyce Johns. I
presume she was much younger than Persis as she was alive in 2000.
I just wondered if mention of any of these names may 'ring a bell' on your
records.
Thank you again for your very kind offer of help, I do appreciate it.
Myra

My family were John{s} in this area, but unfortunately
not the family you refer to. I recently photographed
the parish records for Chepstow up to 1930, so I will
look for the marriage or any children baptised.
The Johns family you are looking in to are descended
from George & Frances Johns who were in Chepstow
prior to 1841, George Johns came from Dorset, It would
be worth checking the Forest of Dean website as a branch
of this family when to live in Tidenham and records of
them can be found in the parish records late 19th century.
