Hi
Ever hear of a Yank getting into trouble? I have been appointed as the organizer for
Monmouthshire 1891 census.
This could be great trouble for me except that I know that there is great cooperation in
the realm of genealogy.
I visited England in 1944 as a member of the United States Navy. I went to Normandy and
back to England in an Army hospital in Newbury. The cooperation in those years was superb
and I am in hopes that the same holds true today.
I need volunteers for the MONMOUTHSHIRE CENSUS PROJECT. Please help me, at present I only
have 3 workers. But I have never ask for volunteers till now.
Please SWAMP me with your getting on the band wagon.
You would need access to a fiche reader. Many have been given one by business or banks
that no longer use them. A local library of LDS library would have them. You would be
sent the fiche and the only out of pocket expense would be to return them to me when you
finish.
The software can be downloaded from the website mentioned below in my signature. After
recording and sending back the packet of fiche you will be then sent another packet until
the job is finished or you are no longer able to continue. Each packet is referred to, by
the members of this project, as
a "piece" Usually there are about 3 fiche to a piece. The Fiche are in an
envelope loaned to us by LDS, for the transcribing. The complete set of 1891 fiche will
then need to be returned to LDS by us when the job is totally complete. I will be happy
to answer any further questions you may have.
ONE NEW THING: The 1891 census for Wales MUST be done with SSCENS because of the way the
other programs handle Welsh names.
