Hi Folks!
Since there have been complaints about the tumbleweeds blowing through the
spaces this mailing list should occupy, I thought I'd take the opportunity
to fill some of that space with this chunk of family research.
This is the 7th week of my new addiction to family research. I've not yet
had the opportunity to pop home to Tredegar to visit the Grove and check
things up, (hopefully that's where many of the records would be found). I
don't drive, and it takes over 4 hours by a combination of trains, buses and
liberation of moths, to get there (though less than 2 hours by car).
If anyone has any corrections, additions, or suggestions to make, I'd be
pleased to hear from you.
If you're a descendant of one of these people, I'd be thrilled to hear from
you!
If I'm stealing someone away from your family into mine, I'd be less
pleased, but still grateful, to hear from you.
Censuses still not checked are 1851 - MON, 1841, '61, '71 & '91 - BRE
& MON,
and I've only had odd look-ups on the '81 Census. I won't mention the
swear-word date. Oops! I just did, in a manner of speaking.
Anyway, here goes:
-----
THOMAS PRICE & MARY GRIFFITH
married on 21 May 1821, Bedwellty, MON [1]
They had the following children:
LEWIS PRICE Christened: 02 Apr 1822, Bedwellty, MON [2]
JANE PRICE Christened: 31 Dec 1823, Bedwellty, MON [2]
WILLIAM PRICE Christened: 13 Sep 1825, Bedwellty, MON [2] [3]
Hopefully, that child William is the following adult William:
WILLIAM PRICE, born c.1825/26, Bedwellty, MON [4]
married
MARY, born c.1826/27, Bedwellty, MON [4]
They had the following children:
JOHN PRICE, born c.1849, Rassau, Llangynidr, BRE [4] [5]
[large gap, just begging to be filled with more kids!]
[in fact, I'll stick one possibility, David, in]
DAVID PRICE, born c.1854/55, Rassau, Llangynidr, MON [6]
SARAH A PRICE, born c.1862/63, BRE [5]
JANE PRICE, born c.1866/67, BRE [5]
That infant John probably grew up into the following man:
JOHN PRICE, born c.1849, Rassau, Llangynidr, BRE [4] [5]
married
CATHERINE, born c.1852, Bedwellty, MON [5] [7]
They had the following children:
WATKIN PRICE, born c.1872, Rassau, Llangunider, BRE [5]
MARY PRICE, born c.1876, Rassau, Llangunider, BRE [5]
MARGARET PRICE, born c.1878, Breconshire [5]
WILLIAM A PRICE, born c.1880, Breconshire [5]
[probably plenty more kids in this generation]

* possibly attached to the wrong sisters, depending on who remembers it
rightly.
