Hi
I've just found one of my LEIGH relatives on the 1901 census and am having
terrible trouble deciphering the handwriting on the original census return. Can
anyone with better knowledge of South Wales help? I've put all the names I'm
unsure of in capital letters.
I should say my ancestors came mostly from Abertillery, so this is a bit
further afield but not unreasonably so.
It's the family of Charles Lee at 56 GLANLEY Street, in the Civil Parish of
? (looks like Seaworms to me, but it's transcribed as Llanwonno),
Ecclesiastical Parish of PENRHIW???, Urban District of MOUNT???, Parliamentary Borough or
Division of Merthyr ???? (Merthyr Tydfil is the only Merthyr I know of),
Village of PENRH????
The transcription lists the family as Charles, wife Rachel, daughter Elsie
Maud, son HAE Chas (probably HUE or HUW) and son REGENDAL, which I imagine is
more probably Reginald.
I've tried looking on the internet, with no success, so I'm hoping there's
someone on the list with better knowledge of the area who might be able to
help.
Many thanks in advance
Jane
