Hello Listers
I have been transcribing the Will of John ELLAWAY which was dated April
13, 1829 and was
proved on July 19, 1831. John must have died sometime between these 2
dates.
Although he was living with his daughter, Hannah Maria MAISH and her
husband Henry Maish,
a bellows maker, in Bristol when he died, John was a shop keeper
formerly of Monmouth, Grottz / Grortz / Crortz but I was unable to make
out this last word.
There is a death of a Maria Maish in Bedminster 1837 - 3rd Qu. which
could be the daughter
going by her 2nd name but I suspect she was born in Monmouth.
Another name mentioned in the Will was James LAMBERT of Monmouth, a
Draper friend
who John left £20.00 to.
I have been following my Ellaway family in Bristol and Monmouth for many
years now and
suspect my Thomas Ellaway came originally from Monmouth area. Thomas
would have been
born about 1770 and married in 1792 to Elizabeth Harper at St James
Parish in Bristol.
I do hope some of this information will help someone and if anyone can
add to the name
ELLAWAY, I would be very pleased to hear from them.
Thank You Lorraine Ottawa, Canada
