WW general labourer at Cwm farm
stabbing
after 2100 possibly after 2240
about 700 am lad Frank James normally went ot work with WW went to see
where he was
found Mrs W dead in garden FJ ran and fetched his mother who found WW
dead ingarden too his face partially coverd with "sweet william" torn
up by the roots.
Thomas Day of "Fox and Hounds" Inn Llangibby broke in through the roof
an ffound the three chuildren dead ion the attic.
Joseph Garcia had been released from USK gaol and had escaped the
turnkey who was taking him to Usk staion in order to pay his fare to
Newport
he was arrested on Newport Station midnight Wednesday and found to be
carrying stolen goods and wearing the deadmans boots and trousers.
Tried at Gloucester Assizes in November 1878 before Justice Bramwell,
prosecutor Mr Bosanquet
Spanish Consel aranged Mr Gough and Mr Maddy to defend Garcia,
who was found guilty and hung at the County Gaol Usk by Marwood when Mr
C. W. Usherwood was Deputy Governor.
The cottage was demolished and the site converted into a field bounded
by a stone wall on the field side.
