Dear Lynette,
Further to Mike John's BAKER family I
have this info given to me by
Trevor BAKER my fathers cousin. Trevor doesn't have a computer, but I take
note for him of any BAKER's .
My great great Aunt Ruth Ada EVANS born 1868 in Itton married George BAKER
1858-1932 born in St Brides, Netherwent.
The first BAKER he gave me was a Samuel BAKER 1759-1813 married Catherine
LEVI 1766-1859
their Son William BAKER 1798-1885 married Ann LEONARD in 1826
they had the following children:
Samuel BAKER 27 Sept 1826
Ann BAKER 17 Feb 1828
Catherine BAKER 1 Jun 1829
Matilda BAKER 29 Nov 1830 married Albert Morgan ,Butcher,Newport
William BAKER 16 May 1832 went to Australia & died there (Trevor would
love to know what happened to him)
Eleanor BAKER 5 Sept 1833
Selina BAKER married Mr Thorn of Newport 21 Jan 1835
Thomas L BAKER 12 Oct 1837
Steven Leonard BAKER 23 Jul 1839 married Miss LAWRENCE of Kemyss Inferior
in 1865 had 6 girls & 1 boy golden wedding 1915
George BAKER 14 Apr 1841 married Jane WILLIAMS 1858-1941 & had 6 boys & 1
girl but earlier he had a son by an Adelaide called George 1858 to 1932 .
Unmarried at the time.
Albert Sydney BAKER 14 Dec 1845 married Miss Cissie WATERS of Burnt House
had 4 boys & 3 girls
The first entry in the Maeson? Parish Records of an Ann BAKER 1495 is
probably Trevors relation.
I wonder if your William is connected to Trevor's William.
Trevor was under the impression he died in Australia though. Maybe the
story was changed over time. I hope this can solve Trevor's mystery and
yours too.
I look forward to hearing what people say about the death of a William
Henry BAKER in Magor.
Ann BAKER 1800nee Leonard was born in Magor.
Sounds like a few BAKER's married LEONARDS
I hope this doesn't confuse you further. Many BAKERS to choose from but
which one is yours I wonder ?
Kind Regards Vicky HARDING New Zealand
my Interests are with EVANS of Itton and Woolaston .

My name is Lyn Baker and I am from Frankston, Victoria, Australia. I have
just started researching my husbands family.
William Henry Baker (a butcher) deceased by 1881, wife Sarah ? Bird,
publican of the Red Lion Hotel, Magor in 1881.
Son Arthur Baker born c 1873 came to Australia c 1898. Is the 1891 census
available for lookups? I would dearly like to find if the family is still
there in 1891.
Is there a general cemetery in Magor? Family is C of E. William Henry
Baker would have been 40ish when he died. pre 1881. but after 1872.
Lyn Baker
