Subject: [Mon] Census Cd's of The Shire
Hello all
Yes I know, this question is often asked, but to save me
going back through previous months lists, Census Cds, what years are
available and
where do I go to order them? You may remember I am interested in the Beach
surname and the Monmouth Town area.
General question, is anybody involved in transcribing census
lists for any of the free BMD sites, the one I looked at seemed to have
nobody
working on Monmouthshire. I wondered if it is difficult work, I would be
happy to transcribe the Monmouth area, I could find out what I need to
know, and
could make sence of the place names, I guess we have all come across those
errors, one I looked at had the place of birth down as Sydney Forest of
Dean
instead of Lydney, that sort of thing must send those in the US or Australia
off
on a wild goose chase until someone puts them right. But I suppose free
lists are bad news for those who have spent hours transcrbing for a group
that
hope to benefit from sales of Cds
Oh one more thing, in the "Monfamilies" list there is so
much
useful info, all the smaller Churches and Chapels around Monmouth have at
least some of their baptisms and marriages listed, but not the biggest
church St
Marys, anyone know why? It's the same in the Forest, when it comes to the
area I want St Pauls in Parkend, nothing.
Before anyone says, Yes I am close enough to and look for
myself, but I'm a lasy bugger, will that offend our foriegn friends, surely
not,
but just in case "Sorry"
Bye Monmouth Fred
