Subject: [Mon] relative values
Hello all,
can anyone tell me what an estate valued at £20 in 1892 would be
worth in todays terms? What for instance would have been the average wage
for a
working man (labourer)?
on a totally different subject - does anyone know if Caroline
Street still exists in Newport. I believe that it would have been in the
area that
is now near the Newport Centre and may well have been demolished! I do
remember it vaguely as being a road of neat victorian terraced houses when I
was a
child growing up in Newport.
I look forward as always to hearing from the list
