Yes Gordon
Court Farm used to be a dairy Farm if I remember correctly, my uncle told me
years ago!! It is now an housing estate, built I think, when they built
Girlings Factory here, maybe just before! My Auntie still lives there.

Would anyone recognize the address , "Court Farm, Llantainam, Newport"
and what might have been there on June 20, 1924. (apologys for the
spelling, difficult reading)
===================
Dear Bill,
I agree with Pam's suggestion that "Llantainam" is Llantarnam. My modern
A to Z street atlas of the area shows there to be a Court Farm Road and
Court Farm Close located off Llantarnam Road in the district of
Llantarnam, about 4 miles north of Newport.
The grid reference is ST302937 on the detailed UK Ordnance Survey
'Landranger' map (sheet 171). You can see the relevant section of this
map at the Streetmaps website
www.streetmap.co.uk/
In the search section near the top of the Streetmaps homepage, select
the 'Landranger' option and enter ST302937 into the search field. Click
the Search button and a streetmap format map appears on which Court Farm
Road and Court Farm Close are clearly shown in the centre square of the
map. You can change to the smaller scale Landranger map format by
clicking once on the [-] zoom out button at bottom right of the map.
Court Farm Road and Court Farm Close are not identified by name on the
Landranger map but are situated near the school and a small orange arrow
near the centre of the map.
You can examine the same area in more detail on a late 19th century map
by visiting the Ordnance Survey Old Maps website at
http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ This 1:10,560-scale map, published circa
1890, will probably identify the farm by name.
On the website's main page select the "Co-ordinates" option in the
search facility (near top left of the page). In the search field enter
the co-ordinates 330200,193700 (without any spaces) and click the Search
button. When the small map appears, click on the "Enlarged view" button
below the map. A highly detailed large map of the area will open in a
new window, centred roughly on the same area shown previously on the
modern Landranger map. Hopefully, you will see Court Farm in this area.
Unfortunately, I cannot check this for you at present because the Old
Maps website is currently displaying the following message when the
search function is activated:
"Sorry - the server is currently unavailable for serving maps. Please
try again later."
When the website is functioning again, you can save the enlarged map to
your hard disc by clicking on it with your right mouse button and
selecting the "Save Picture As..." option in the menu which appears.
Kind regards,
John
