Hello,
I'm researching 75% of my family in South Wales, and was doing
very well with the following members who all appeared nicely in my
index fiches for 1861, 1871, on the LDS 1881 and the on-line 1901
censuses where they were expected - Tredegar. Since many were
also born there, I also expected to find them just as easily in 1851,
but they don't appear to be on the Bedwellty/Tredegar fiche nor the
Aberystruth and Blaenafon fiche. I've had lookups done in BRE and
also GLA, but nothing obvious there either - just thought they could
have gone to another part of MON perhaps? If anyone can locate
any of them anywhere then I'd be very grateful.
I've put all ages as expected in 1851, if anyone has 1841 and is able
to find any there, that would be fantastic too!
William MORGAN born MON, either Tredegar or Ebbw Vale, working
in Iron Industry (usually a Puddler) aged 22. Quite likely to be
boarding somewhere as not yet married, unless still living with
parents who may (but might have different names!) William (60) and
Elizabeth (45) both born MON.
Henry LEWIS 35 born MON Bedwellty/Tredegar possibly a miner
(but was a gamekeeper in 1861) or working on the
railways (he was in 1871) plus family (all born MON Bedwellty or
Tredegar):
Mary 34
William 13
Thomas 4
Henry 2
Joseph MORGAN (no relation to above) 32 coal miner born PEM
(poss Begelly)
plus family:
Elizabeth or Besey 33 born CMN Laugharne
Thomas 3 born MON Bedwellty/Tredegar
and possibly Benjamin a few months old born MON
Bedwellty/Tredegar
Many thanks
