The 1851 census index is available from Gwent FHS. The original filmed census books
can be purchased from the PRO. Carmarthenshire FHS have put the original 1841 onto
CD and it is available via their website. Gwent FHS hasn't yet issued the 1841
index. As
you are in Swansea you might want to make the short journey into Newport[?] to look at
the films/fiche there.

Can anyone tell me, please, where to get the 1841 and 1851 censuses
for Monmouthshire? I am seeking details of John King, a cordwainer, at
Blaenavon. He was, I think, originally from Gloucestershire.
