Dear Gordon and Listers
Gordon - you don't say whatyour grammar shcool was, only that David Hughes previously
taught at West Mon. Have you contacted your school?
West Monmouth Grammar School still exists and is now a comprehensive school. It has a
website
westmonmouthschool.com and I have in my past researches had occasion to contact
the school and found them quite helpful. A polite e-mail, letter or telephone query should
glean results.
Interestingly the subject of my correspondence with the school was because I had a
relative (or at least I thought she was a relative, later disproved) who taught French at
the school during the 1950's and 1960's - Madame Francis.
Friends Reunited website may also be a source of information as there are some former
pupils of the school registered on it.
Best wishes in your research.

To all listers,
The French master at my grammar school was David Hughes. He had previously been a master
at West Monmouth School.in 1922 . He retired circa 1960 He was a very kind person,
I should very much like to correspond with one of his descendants.
If anyone knows anything of him, I should be equally pleased to correspond.
Thank you,
Gordon .
