I can not help but put my to'penarth into this! I too have an aunt who has
written or copied something similar from someone who is supposedly related.
I don't think, or certainly I haven't seen any documented proof of this.
Although the account to which I am referring doesn't go back nearly as far
but it must be as wide as Roy's account is long!
I wouldn't consider myself a very experienced genealogist but I do feel my
aunt was wrong to state that we were related to these people. I agree with
John in this respect. In my case my aunt should have provided proof or
certainly stated on what this document was based. Now as I do my research I
try and get at least two reliable sources of documentation to back up my
acceptance of a new person into my family tree.
You should always work back, never forward because that way you can make
anything fit, so I was told.
Good luck though Roy in your research for the future, just don't accept
everything at face value though!
