Hello Bev
Re: Freebmd
This may not be the Mary married to Amos. At that time there were usually 8 people
listed on each marriage register page (4 couples). You will either have to wait until the
remaining 3 brides are listed or someone may be able to do a lookup on
1837.com to see
if there were any other Marys with the same reference No. as Amos.
Mary was still alive in 1861 but Margaret was the wife in 1871. There is a death of a
Mary
Wheeler in MON 1864 (Freebmd). In 1871 census Amos is listed on the same page with:
Ada, 3
Alfred A, 4
Elizabeth, 66
Ephraim, 37
James, 19
John, 72
Margaret, 41
Miriam, 6 months
Richard G, 12
William, 10

I would just like to say thankyou to all the people that replied to
my
question about Amos Wheeler, it has helped a great deal. It appears
as though this the correct family, but interstingly in the 1851 Census
Amos is married to a Mary ( I have found this marriage on Free BDM's -
Amos Wheeler & Mary Morgan June 1848 in Pontypool), but in the 1881
Census Amos is married to a Margaret and according to her daughter
Ada's birth certificate( born in 1869) her mother's name is Margaret
Morgan, but I cannot find this marriage. I am wondering if anyone has
any ideas about this? Thanks again, Bev, Australia.
