Can you suggest where to look online to find a burial for Thomas John
Meredith and his wife Elizabeth Wallis Meredith? Elizabeth was the daughter
of Robert Wallis and his wife Ann.
It appears Thomas John Meredith and his wife Elizabeth were members of the
Calvary Chapel (Baptist) in Brynmawr, Breconshire. Thomas was baptized
there as an adult in 1849. Elizabeth Meredith was baptized there also as an
adult in December 1855. Sometime between the 1851 census and her baptism
they married--I have not found a record of that yet. Other online records
indicate they both were members in standing at that chapel until at least
March 1870. Census records show them at Brynmawr, Breconshire in 1861 and
1871.
Due to mines closing, many of the workers then could be found at Blaina,
just across the border of Breconshire in Monmouthshire.
Then in January 1879 Thomas John Meredith was crushed by "trucks" that
brought materials out of the mine where he was working. This was as Blaina,
Aberystruth Parish, Monmouthshire according to his death certificate.
The 1881 census shows Elizabeth Meredith, the widow of Thomas John
Meredith, at Garn Vach dwelling, Aberystruth district, Monmouthshire. After
that I lose track of her.
Where would Thomas John Meredith be buried? And was his wife Elizabeth
buried in the same place? They had no children that I am aware of.
