STOODLEIGH
Wedding Celebration. – The growing and populous town of Abertillery (Monmouthshire), was
recently en fete on the occasion of the marriage of Miss Sarah Ellen Mogford, second
daughter of Mr. William Mogford, the popular station master of Abertillery, son of Mr.
John Mogford, late of Stoodleigh, to Mr. Charles G. White of Frocester Manor. The marriage
was solemnised by the Rev. Henry Walters, Vicar of Abertillery, and Mr. Baker did good
service at the organ.
The bride was attired in a grey silk dress trimmed with satin to match, embellished with
tulle and orange blossom, white chip bonnet trimmed with white satin and orange blossom,
and veil. The bridesmaids were Miss James, of Llandaff; Miss Richard, of Bristol, and Miss
Richard, of Abertillery; while the bridegroom was attended by Mr. W. Mogford, Mr. T.
Mogford, and Mr. W. Vile, of Newport. The inhabitants of the town, on the bridal party’s
line of route, turned out en masse, and gave them a most cordial welcome, both in going
and returning from the church. The wedding presents were numerous. The newly married
couple left the same evening for London.
