Dear listers,
As many of you already know, I have no sight and rely entirely on transcriptions.
Would someone be willing to let me know what additional details are available on the image
of this 1871 Census entry of Brynmawr please?
The details below are from the Find My Past website who generally transcribe much more
than Ancestry does, but the 1871 Census has details missing, such as birthplaces, marital
status and occupations.
With this particular entry, the majority are obvious, as in marital status, but the
additional details of birthplaces and occupations would be appreciated.
RG10 Piece 5588 Folio 31 Page 1
Bailey Street Cottage, Llanelly, Crickhowell, Breconshire, Wales
William Thomas Head - Male 51 Breconshire
Mary Ann Thomas Wife - Female 45 Breconshire
Geo Thomas Son - Male 23 Breconshire
Mary Jane Thomas Daughter - Female 17 Breconshire
Elizabeth Thomas Daughter - Female 9 Breconshire
Wm Thomas Son - Male 19 Breconshire
John Thomas Son - Male 5 Breconshire
Ann Thomas Daughter - Female 15 Breconshire
In case anyone is wondering which family group this is, William is the son of Owen Thomas
according to his two marriage records, and Mary Ann in this Census who is his 2nd wife was
formerly Hamilton, and according to the 1851 Census was born in Swansea, Glamorgan. So far
I’ve been unable to find them in the 1861 or 1881 Censuses, but have found all birth
indexes from the official GRO website.
Sincerest thanks,
Jon
