Carolyn,
I reviewed FreeBMD to see exactly what it was you were looking at.
Since marriages usually took place at the bride's home area, I selected Cardigan,
searching 1847 to 1850.
I found no marriage for John Bowen.
I found 3 marriages for Elizabeth Thomases, one of which (March 1850 Cardigan district
27 page 43) also referenced Evan Bowen.
Do you know if your John ever used the name form Evan?

Could some kind person help me, please, I am stuck!
I have, unsuccessfully, used the BMD Index to try to find the marriage of my
GrGr Grandparents John Bowen and Elizabeth Thomas, both were born in
Cardiganshire but lived in Monmouthshire from at least 1850 until their
deaths.
I figured out that if I looked them up in the BMD index and I found both of
their names on the same page same volume it might be their marriage.
THE PROBLEM IS; some pages have only one name on them and some have 2 names
but they are both male.
Their only child, Ann was born in Bedwelty Nov. 1950. I suppose they were
married a few years before probably in Cardiganshire but maybe
Monmouthshire.
Knowing both of their names and the approximate time of their marriage is
there another, surer, way of finding their marriage??
Thank you
