Subject: Woolley research
Is anyone out there researched the Woolley family.
The information I have is:-
Samuel and Hannah Woolley (Knight) born 1820/1821 in Longhope, Gloucester in England They
lived in Dairy Cottage in Skenfrith, Monmouthshire, Wales.
Children to Samuel and Hannah Woolley - all born in Skenfrith, Monmouthshire, Wales.
1. Roana born 1847
2. Jane born 1849
3. James born 1851 (my line) (My great grand father)
4. Thomas born 1853
5. Charletty born 1855
6. Lucy Elizabeth born 1857
7. George born 1864
We know that James was married in Charters Towers (Queensland Australia) in 1886 and
lived, worked and died in Charters Towers in 1911.
How (assuming sail boat) or when he turned up at Charters Towers is a mystery. Also what
port he sailed into and when.
If anyone has any info that my be able to be matched up or able to fill in my gaps would
be most appreciated.
Does anyone have any information as to whether any of the rest of the family emergrated to
Australia.
Maybe someone from Skenfrith or Monmouthshire can fill in the gaps from your local
information centres.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone with any information.
regards,
Judy
