I have just received the birth certificate of a person whom I thought was
called Clara Mary DUBBIN. this is the name on one of her children's birth
certificate which was copied by hand sometime in the 1950s, the copy that I
have received for Clara is a photo copy of the original entry so I have to
believe it, it clearly says Chlora Mary DUBBIN, does any one know the
origins of Chlora, she was born in Wales but there is a possible French
connection.
Cheers.

Hi Wilf
You don't give a date for the birth of Chlora Mary DUBBIN.
Chloroform was introduced as an anaesthetic for childbirth between 1847 and
1853 by James Young SIMPSON in Edinburgh.
Queen Victoria used it for the birth of her eighth child Prince Leopold in
1853, which made it fashionable.
As far as I know it has not been used for this purpose for quite a number of
years.
