So the name goes back as fare as the middle 1600s at least, I have
to be honest and say that it is the first time I have heard of it, but then
again I have not been looking for it.

Hi Wilf,
Andrew Marvell (1621-1678) used the name in two of his poems, Mourning &
The Gallery.
He spelled it both Clora and Chlora.
