G'day. I'd just like to get a Thank You away to all those
folk who sent
me information about The Coleman Family.
Hi Valerie,
To get further information, a little tip is to send your acknowledgements
individually then you are likely to receive more from those who
replied initially.
As I said in a post to the list, yesterday, if a correspondence is struck
up with listers who respond to queries it could be an advantage.
I'd like to now get some info on Aaron Colemans' Parents.
It's been established that Aaron COLEMAN was born in St. George,
Gloucestershire so I would look for his parents there. Perhaps he went to
Monmouthshire to seek work and left them in Gloucestershire.
However, first you need to establish who they were. You need a baptism look
up for Aaron in St. George, Gloucestershire and if there's no result there
possibly in Stapleton, Gloucestershire as there were COLEMANs in that
parish in the early to mid-19th century.
I know that William COLEMAN was both an owner of property and an occupier
of property in Stapleton in the decade or so before the 1851 census and
that Samuel COLEMAN was an occupier of property in Stapleton, too.
Do Census records go back before 1851 in Wales?
Censuses were taken in England and Wales in 1841.
If so would someone be able to check that out for me?
The 1841 Gloucestershire census and the 1841 Monmouthshire census are
available on CD from Archive CD Books
www.archivecdbooks.org
However, these censuses are unindexed by surname so it would take some time
to go through them page by page.
